Title: Sea water corrosion. (Latest citations from the NTIS data base). Published Search

Abstract

The bibliography contains citations concerning the corrosion of ships, offshore platforms, steel pilings, cables, and marine equipment. The materials studied include ferrous and nonferrous metals, concrete, and composites. Considerable attention is given to materials selection and testing for the Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) projects. References to corrosion inhibitors are included. (Contains 250 citations and includes a subject term index and title list.)

  • The bibliography contains citations concerning corrosion resistant coatings. Discussions of specific coatings include plastic, ceramic, antifouling, antireflecting, and metal coatings. References include the use of coatings for nuclear reactors, underwater equipment and materials. Military use is also included. (Contains 250 citations and includes a subject term index and title list.)
  • The bibliography contains citations concerning the transport and fate of contaminants in freshwater systems containing sediments. Topics include nutrient recycling, absorption and desorption of a variety of contaminants, ion exchange processes, and the use of transport models in contamination studies. Citations pertaining specifically to marine environments are excluded. (Contains 250 citations and includes a subject term index and title list.)
  • The bibliography contains citations concerning water resources data by state. Data include records of stage, discharge, and water quality of streams; the stage, contents, and water quality of lakes and reservoirs; and levels and quality of waterwells. Completeness of information varies with each reporting state. Water quality records are gathered and maintained by the local Geological Survey. Water quality standards are discussed in a separate bibliography. (Contains 250 citations and includes a subject term index and title list.)
  • The bibliography contains citations concerning the contamination of groundwater with radionuclides and their subsequent migration. Monitoring surveys of existing sites with actual or potential radioactive groundwater contamination are included. Transport and migration models for radionuclides in groundwater are discussed. Natural radiation and accidental releases are considered in addition to anthropogenic sources of radioactive pollution such as waste storage and disposal. Contributions to radioactive pollution from uranium mining and processing is discussed in a separate bibliography. (Contains 250 citations and includes a subject term index and title list.)
  • The bibliography contains citations concerning efforts of states and U.S. territories to standardize the quality of residential and natural water sources. These reports survey the minimum water quality standards set forth by individual state legislatures. Major emphasis is placed upon residential drinking water quality, and includes criteria for industrial pollutants and natural contaminants. Some attention is given to wetlands and aquifers as well as to water use laws. This bibliography is useful to all environmentalists and state authorities involved in clean water legislation. (Contains a minimum of 160 citations and includes a subject term index and title list.)
