A polymer flood containing Pusher 700 was used in the waterflooded Pembina Field in Alberta. The reservoir is a sand, overlain by a conglomerate section (10.4 percent porosity, 45.4 md permeability). Softened water slugs were injected before and after the polymer slug. No permanent improvement in oil recovery efficiency was attained by the polymer flood over waterflooding. Tests indicated that adsorption of the polymer increased as the salinity of the flood increased. Calcium carbonate surfaces adsorbed substantially more of the polymer than did silica surfaces.
