Cross field thermal transport due to ion acoustic waves in magnetized laser plasmas. Interim report

It is shown that cross field temperature gradients can drive ion acoustic waves unstable in a laser produced plasma. The principle effect of the instability is an enhancement of the cross field thermal conductivity. It is shown how this effect can be modeled in laser fusion hydrocodes. (Author)
