Calculation of overall heat transfer in firebox of tube furnace

This paper examines the combustion of the following gaseous fuels: 100% methane; methane with 20-60% hydrogen; methane with up to 80% heavier hydrocarbons (ethane, propane, butane, and pentane). The proposed method for calculation of the overall heat transfer in tube furnace fireboxes with a free flame according to the reduced characteristics of the fuel is explained as being based on a dimensionaless equatin for determinatin of the temperature of the gases at the exit from the firebox. The differences between the values of the gas temperature at the firebox exit is no greater than 10-15 K.
