Title: Electron spin resonance of Cu(2+) in CuO-silica-alumina catalyst, and the effect of acetone adsorption

Abstract

The study showed that 3Vertical Bar3< copper on silica-alumina formed cupric ion complexes grouped in clusters on special types of sites, and that at copper concentrations above 3Vertical Bar3< cupric oxide formation was favored. The adsorption of acetone at 10 mm Hg, followed by heating to 250/sup 0/C produced a paramagnetic species, whose changes with adsorption and heating time and interaction with oxygen are described.
