Proposed recommended practice for maintenance, testing and replacement of large stationary type power plant and substation lead storage batteries

This paper, being published as work in progress, recognizes the need by designers and operators of large stations for a reference to sound industry practice relating to maintenance, testing, and replacement of large lead storage batteries. It describes a recommended maintenance program, an acceptance test, and periodic capacity tests. It also suggests certain special tests and contains a set of criteria which can be used to determine when a battery should be replaced.
