The maleic anhydride based amphiphilic alternating copolymers containing single, double, and triple alkyl chains were prepared. They formed monolayers on a water subphase. LB films of the monolayers could be deposited in a Y-type on a porous filter membrane and were stable in aqueous phase without losing the molecular packing mode in the monolayer state. The KCl permeability through the films depended strongly on the molecular structure in hydrophobic portions of amphiphiles.
