Title: Refrigeration circuit

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6950737

This patent describes a refrigerant circuit including a compressor, a condenser, a first expansion means and an evaporator so that discharging refrigerant from a compressor passes through the condenser, the first expansion means and the evaporator, respectively, and returns to a first suction port of the compressor. The improvement described here comprises: a second expansion means connecting the condenser and the first expansion means so that the outlet port of the second expansion means is connected to the inlet port of the first expansion means; and a pressure sensitive regulating valve fixed between an inlet port of the second expansion means and an outlet port of the second expansion means so that the valve is responsive to a pressure differential between the inlet and outlet ports whereby the valve opens progressively wider as the pressure differential increases. The outlet port of the valve is connected to a second suction port of the compressor so that the valve controls the quantity of refrigerant passing from the second expansion means to the second suction port of the compressor according to the pressure differential between the inlet and outlet ports of the second expansion means. The pressure differential and thus the quantity of refrigerant and larger when the compressor is engaged and thereafter diminish so that the torque produced when the compressor is engaged is reduced while steady-state flow through the circuit is quickly attached.
