Title: Studies of climatic variability during the period of instrumental records: Second annual report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6907777

The aim was to analyze the Department of Energy long-term climatic data bank to investigate the carbon dioxide-climate question. In the second year of the study, the focus was on: (1) analysis of long-term precipitation for Northern Hemisphere land areas; (2) evaluation of the influence of various forcing factors on the temperature and precipitation record of the last 130 years; (3) analysis of the Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set (COADS) and merging with the DOE land data set; and (4) analysis of the effects of the E1 Nino/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomenon on the temperature and precipitation variability of the Northern Hemisphere land areas.
