The Hall effect in the temperature range between {ital T}{sub {ital c}} and 300 K was studied for new superconducting cuprates which have fluorite-type layers in the crystal structure. The samples studied were of (Nd,Ce){sub 2}CuO{sub 4} ({ital T}{prime} type), (Nd,Ce,Sr){sub 2}CuO{sub 4} ({ital T}{sup *} type), (Nd,Ce){sub 4}(Nd,Ba,Sr){sub 4}Cu{sub 6}O{sub {ital y}} (4:4:6 type) and ({ital L}, Ce){sub 4}(La,Ba,Sr){sub 4}Cu{sub 6}O{sub {ital y}} ({ital L}=Eu,Dy,Y,Ho,) (4:4:6 type). The Hall coefficients, {ital R}{sub {ital H}}, for all the samples exhibited maxima with respect to temperature, located around {ital T}{sub {ital p}}=110--150 K. This feature was not seen in the K{sub 2}NiF{sub 4}-type and 1:2:3-type superconductors in which {ital R}{sub {ital H}} increased rather monotonically with decreasing temperature. The maxima observed were not likely caused by the magnetic moment of the rare-earth elements, but by the fluorite-type layers contained in the {ital T}{prime}, {ital T}{sup *}, and 4:4:6 structures. For the ({ital L},Ce){sub 4}(La,Ba,Sr){sub 4}Cu{sub 6}O{sub {ital y}} system, a strong correlation between the magnitude of {ital T}{sub {ital c}} and the slope of {ital R}{sub {ital H}}-vs-{ital T} curve below {ital T}{sub {ital p}} was revealed. Both {ital T}{sub {ital c}} and {ital R}{sub {ital H}} were functions of the radius of Ln{sup 3+} contained in the fluorite layer.
