Power system static security control: Final report. NSF SBIR Phase 1 feasibility study
The report describes the formulation of a preliminary procedure for static security control of power systems and establishes the viability of the procedure. Within the framework of a multiobjective decision process, the procedure exhibits three major innovations that are potential improvements over the state of the art: the procedure incorporates an optimized performance index for evaluating the control actions according to the degree of system stress; the procedure weights that degree of system stress with the probability of occurrence of the originating critical contingency; and incorporating the optimized performance index into the procedure not only contributes in measuring system stress, but the index sensitivities also provide a measure of control effectiveness.
