The topics of infrared imaging, space applications, detectors and sensors, and scientific applications are discussed. Papers are presented on the theoretical and experimental performance of a pyroelectric array imager, real time enhancement of obscured infrared imagery, radiometric linearity calibration, and kinetic temperature image modeling from thermal infrared satellite images. Consideration is given to design principle for simultaneous emissivity and temperature measurements, infrared liquid crystal light valve, short wavelength responsivity improvement and long wavelength responsivity degradation in photodiodes as a result of gamma irradiation, nonequilibrium devices for IR detection, and optical and electrical properties of In/sub 2/O/sub 3//In, In/sub 2/O/sub 3//Sn (ITO), In/sub 2/O/sub 3//Cd. Additional papers include application of a silicon photodiode array for solar edge tracking in the halogen occultation experiment, IR measurement of grain size and melting degree of snow, dynamic optical deformations of a chopping secondary mirror, and signal-to-noise ratio and sensitivity equations for an enclosed radiothermometer.
