A composition is described of matter which is useful for protecting metal exposed to a corrosive environment. Use of such in the treatment of metal parts, e.g., located in well bores, equipment, etc., is disclosed and claimed. The composition contains as an essential constituent an acid salt of the reaction product of a fatty or resin acid, a polymerized higher fatty acid, a partial ester formed by reacting a polyhydric alcohol with a polymerized higher fatty acid and aminoethyl ethanolamine.
