Title: London theory solutions for the magnetic flux density and the supercurrent density around an elliptical Abrikosov vortex

Abstract

The formation of an elliptical Abrikosov vortex is energetically favorable in single-crystal YBa{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub 7}. This consideration has led the authors to obtain London theory solutions for the magnetic flux density and for the supercurrent density around an elliptical vortex that forms with its core axis perpendicular to an anisotropic plane. The anisotropic London equation predicts an effective interchange of penetration depths around the vortex. {rvec {ital B}} is seen to be constant along elliptical contour lines that are commensurate with the interchanged penetration depths. {rvec {ital J}} must very in magnitude along the same contour lines.
