Electronic properties of transition metal dioxides

The regularities in the changes in the electrical and structural properties of transition metal dioxides as their d band is filled are explained in terms of the two-band model. A model calculation of the Fermi surface of MoO/sub 2/ and WO/sub 2/ is also made.
