Title: National air pollution surveillance (NAPS) network annual summary for 1996. Report number EPS 7/AP/29 (in English;French)

Abstract

The National Air Pollution Surveillance Program is a joint project of the federal and provincial levels of government to monitor and assess, on a continuing basis, the quality of the ambient air in the urban regions of Canada. This annual summary presents data reported from over 500 sampling instruments in more than 50 cities across the 10 provinces and the 2 territories. Measurements were made for sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, soiling index, suspended particulates, lead, sulfate, and nitrate. The summary also compares the data for the year with national air quality objectives for sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone and suspended particulates.
