Environmental appraisal of tidal power stations: with particular reference to the Severn barrage
- ed.
Although the book is written with reference to the Severn Estuary (UK), much of the basic information presented is also relevant to harnessing the tides of other estuaries. No attempt is made to combine the individual observations into a consolidated statement about this type of power station, either in the Severn Estuary or elsewhere. This can only be done for specific schemes in each estuary. There is no doubt however that, as for other types of power station, some schemes are more environmentally acceptable than others. Furthermore, this will not be apparent without the comprehensive studies required for any large project. This book therefore includes essential background material for the whole debate about tidal power barrages.
