Large-format 70-mm high-speed framing camera

A new large-format synchronized high-speed framing camera is described. The camera has a framing rate of 2.5 x 10/sup 6/ frames/sec with a frame size of 64 by 38 mm and a 26-frame record length. The new camera uses a beryllium rotating mirror with an isosceles-triangle cross section that allows a large mirror surface of 36 by 24 mm at the design speed of 10/sup 4/ revolutions/sec. Magnification of 1.8 in the internal optics of the camera gives the larger picture on 70-mm color film.
