Abstract

We report measurements of the decays {ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{pi}{sup +}, {ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{ital K}{sup +}, and {ital D}{sub {ital s}}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{ital K}{sup +} from Fermilab photoproduction experiment E691. The relative branching fractions obtained are {ital B}({ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{pi}{sup +})/{ital B}({ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital K}{sup {minus}}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup +})=0.274{plus minus}0.030{plus minus}0.031, {ital B}({ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{ital K}{sup +})/{ital B}({ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{pi}{sup +})=0.271{plus minus}0.065{plus minus}0.039, and {ital B}({ital D}{sub {ital s}}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{ital K}{sup +})/{ital B}({ital D}{sub {ital s}}{sup +}{r arrow}{phi}{pi}{sup +})=1.15{plus minus}0.31{plus minus}0.19.

Using data from Fermilab photoproduction experiment E691, we measure the ratio of branching fractions between the Cabibbo-suppressed modes {ital B}({ital D}{sup 0}{r arrow}{ital K}{sup {minus}}{ital K+})/{ital B}({ital D}{sup 0}{r arrow}{pi}{sup {minus}}{pi}{sup +}) to be 1.95{plus minus}0.34{plus minus}0.22. We also report branching fractions for the modes {ital D}{sup 0}{r arrow}{ital K}{sup {minus}}{ital K+} and {ital D}{sup 0}{r arrow}{pi}{sup {minus}}{pi}{sup +} relative to the Cabibbo-allowed decay {ital D}{sup 0}{r arrow}{ital K}{sup {minus}}{pi}{sup +}. Study of the decay D sup + r arrow K sup 0 e+. nu. sub e

We have studied the exclusive semileptonic decay mode {ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{ital e+}{nu}{sub {ital e}} in the Fermilab photoproduction experiment E691. We find the ratio of {ital B}({ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{ital e+}{nu}{sub {ital e}})/{ital B}({ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital K}{sup {minus}}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup +}) to be 0.66{plus minus}0.09{plus minus}0.14, corresponding to a {ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}{ital e+}{nu}{sub {ital e}} branching ratio of 6.1{plus minus}0.9{plus minus}1.6%. Using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have performed a direct measurement of the ratio of {ital D}{sup 0} semileptonic branching fractions into vector and pseudoscalar final states. We find {ital B}({ital D}{sup 0}{r arrow}{ital K}{sup *{minus}}{ital e+}{nu}{sub {ital e}})/{ital B}({ital D}{sup 0}{r arrow}{ital K}{sup {minus}}{ital e+}{nu}{sub {ital e}})=0.51{plus minus} 0.18{plus minus}0.06, in agreement with the ratio derived by the E691 experiment which compares {ital D}{sup +} and {ital D}{sup 0} final states. We report the first observation of the decay {ital D}{sub {ital s}}{sup +}{r arrow}{bar K}{sup 0}{ital K}{sup +} and a new measurement of the decay {ital D}{sub {ital s}}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}} *(892){sup 0}{ital K}{sup +}. The data were collected at {radical}{ital s}=4.14 GeV with the Mark III detector at the SLAC {ital e}{sup +}{ital e}{sup {minus}} storage ring at SPEAR.
