This paper discusses how alternative fuels such as hydrogen and methane, carried in liquefied form, have applications in all types of transport. An important property of hydrogen and methane is that they can be transported over great distances without loss and that they can be stored in industrial quantities in underground tanks near manufacturing areas or cities. In addition, they are ecologically cleaner than the customary fuels, and their use causes no significant environmental pollution.
