Experimental research on dispersal of combustion products from flue duct terminals of balanced flue gas appliances, with particular reference to the discharge into confined space

In this paper an experimental research is described, developed by ITALGAS Laboratories in Ast1, ITALY, aimed at defining the mechanisms which control and effect the dispersion of exhaust products from combustion in balanced flue gas appliances, when they are discharged into a confined space open at the top. The experimental results are given and a mathematical model is described which fits the experimental data and allows to draw a first set of conclusions yielding a quantitative defined relationship among the exhaust fumes flowrate, the geometrical configuration of the confined space and the maximum value of CO/sub 2/ concentration in the given confined space.
