Title: Fabrication of spectrally selective surfaces by thermal treatment of austenitic stainless steel AISI 321

Abstract

A technique for obtaining a spectrally selective surface, suitable for flat plate solar collectors, on austenitic stainless steel AISI 321 is described. The technique involves a thermal treatment of the stainless steel under controlled conditions of temperature and time and promises to produce durable selective coatings at possible lower cost than chemical conversion processes.
