Assessment of potential future hydrogen markets in the US
A study of potential future hydrogen markets in the United States was performed for the International Energy Agency's (IEA) Hydrogen Program Annex III, Assessment of Potential Future Markets for the Production of Hydrogen from Water. The study was sponsored by the US Department of Energy, Energy Storage Systems Division, as the US contribution to Annex III, and conducted by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory under its Hydrogen Energy Storage Technology Project. The study projects future hydrogen markets for various use sectors, estimates the probable range of hydrogen production costs from various alternatives, discusses stimuli and barriers to the development of hydrogen markets, presents an overview of the status of technologies for the production and utilization of hydrogen, and, finally, discusses societal aspects of hydrogen production and utilization.
