Recent exclusive data on light charged fragments from the reactions Ca+Ca and Nb+Nb at E/A = 400 MeV are analyzed in the framework of the molecular dynamics model. The model reproduces the weak dependence of the bounce-off angle on the multiplicity. In model head-on collisions there is no transparency, although in the case of Ca+Ca complete stopping of the nuclei is not observed. For Ca+Ca central collisions there is no thermalization of the compression zone with double density, and in the case of Nb+Nb it apparently occurs only at the end of the life of the compression zone.
