Title: Thermochemical and thermophysical properties of organic compounds derived from fossil substances: Thermodynamic studies related to the hydrogenation of anthracene. [9,10-dihydroanthracene, phenyl-o-tolylmethane, and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroanthracene]

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6676032

Experimental details of vapor pressure, enthalpy of combustion, and condensed-phase heat capacity studies are reported for 9,10-dihydroanthracene, phenyl-o-tolylmethane, and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroanthracene. The results are combined to produce values of the Gibbs energy of formation in the ideal-gas state at selected temperatures for each molecule. The derived Gibbs energies are used in equilibria calculations that provide insights into the roles of temperature and hydrogen pressure in the control of product slate in the hydrogenation of anthracene. 38 refs., 8 figs., 19 tabs.
