Title: Composite materials with improved properties in compression. Anionic ring opening polymerization of 2-methyl-2-silaindan. Characterization of the polymer and mechanism of polymerization

Abstract

While polymethylhydrosiloxanes are well known poly(carbonsilane)s which possess reactive Si-H bonds are much less common. The proposal by Yajima that poly((methylsilylene)-methylene) is an intermediate in the pyrolytic conversion of poly(dimethylsilane) fibers into silicon carbide fibers has stimulated considerable interest in such carbosilane polymers.
