Wire-line actuated detonator apparatus
This is a new and improved detonator apparatus which can be positively and simply manipulated by means of a nonelectrical wire line. The detonator apparatus is lowered into a well on a nonelectrical or slick wire line and contains a mechanism for controlling the closing of an electrical circuit in a well so as to detonate explosions carried by an explosive apparatus connected to the detonator by an electrical line. After the detonator apparatus and the attached explosive apparatus has been lowered to a predetermined location, the detonating apparatus can be actuated by raising upward on the nonelectric wire with a predetermined pull so as to close an electrical circuit to the explosive apparatus for detonating it. The detonator has a chamber and piston, each with electrical contacts. The piston is moved by fluid from the chamber. (11 claims)
