Compilation of specifications for machines and apparatus for proposed work Gladbeck with production of fuel oil (in German)
Estimates of data characteristic of two different possible schemes of operation of the proposed coal-hydrogenation plant are listed. One scheme was to produce half fuel oil and half gasoline, whereas the other scheme was to produce 65% gasoline and 35% fuel oil. The actual production was expected to fall somewhere between these two estimates. One of the tables lists estimates of usages and throughput rates of raw materials and energy (dry coal, coke, hydrogen, steam, water, electricity, etc.). A second table lists numbers and capacities needed for several pieces of apparatus at several subunits of the plant, including the Linde apparatus for cracking hydrocarbon gases to hydrogen and for air separation, the water gas producers, gas containers, compressors, carbon dioxide washers, carbon monoxide converters, coal storage bunkers, milling and drying apparatus, paste presses, gas circulation apparatus, coal chambers, circulating gas washers, residue centrifuges, residue carbonization kilns, product distillation apparatus, product storage tanks, vapor phase chambers, pumps, gasoline stabilization and washing apparatus, product gas purifiers and compressors and storage tanks, sulfur-removal apparatus, phenol-removal apparatus, water-cooling towers, water and electrical systems, steam apparatus, heating-gas apparatus, and secondary units such as administrative offices, workshops, laboratories, storage warehouses, worker's facilities, etc. A third table from a later date gives revisions in some of the figures based on later information from the I. G. Farbenindustrie laboratories at Ludwigshafen. 3 tables.
