Title: Solar absorption system for air conditioning

Conference · · Alternative Energy Sources; (United States)
OSTI ID:6546053

Among the various types of clean energy a special attention has been given to the solar energy, because it is free available in hot regions of the globe. The utilization of solar energy is particularly important in developed countries where the electric energy is very expensive as well as in developing countries where the energy production is generally to low as compared to actual requirements. One of the main energy requirements in hot climate regions is air conditioning which needs energy to drive the system throughout the whole year, and the day and night as well. As the most expensive part of each solar system is the collector, to make it competitive to other systems, the solar collector must be as cheap as possible. This demand results in use of an ordinary flat collector, made of cheap materials and utilizing very simple technologies to manufacture. Accepting 50% as the lowest collectors efficiency value, we get the highest operation temperature as high as 70/sup 0/C. The search for the system fulfilling all the conditions mentioned above resulted in a dessicant-absorption system of continous operation, described below.
