Title: Process for the removal of oxides of nitrogen and the aqueous solution used

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6525556

A technique for removing the oxides of nitrogen from off-gases by a gas-liquid contact process is described. The off-gas is brought into contact with an aqueous solution containing an ion or compound with a reductive action on the oxides of nitrogen. The solution used contains water and (1) at least one hydrazine compound (selected from the group: hydrazine, hydrazine hydrate and salts of inorganic acids of hydrazine (2) a bivalent or trivalent iron ion and (3) an organic compound suitable for forming a chelate compound with the iron ion or an alkali metal salt of the organic compound.
