Precipitation chemistry and nutrient loading by precipitation in a tropical watershed
Journal Article

Bulk precipitation samples were collected weekly on the shore of Lake Valencia, Venezuela, for two years. Samples were analyzed for total particulates, particulate carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and phosphorus. Total insoluble particulate material reaching the watershed averages 139 kg/ha/yr, of which 25% is organic and 75% inorganic. The total loading rate of insoluble particulates is significantly higher during the 100 day dry season than during the rest of the year. (6 graphs, 1 map, 2 photos, 44 references, 5 tables)
