Title: Predissociation of H[sub 2] in the 3[ital p][pi][ital D] [sup 1][Pi][sub [ital u]][sup +] state

A noniterative eigenchannel [ital R]-matrix approach, combined with the quantum-defect method, is formulated to describe the predissociation of H[sub 2] in the Rydberg state 3[ital p][pi][ital D] [sup 1][Pi][sub [ital u]][sup +] by the low-lying 3[ital p][sigma][ital B][prime] [sup 1][Sigma][sub [ital u]][sup +] and 2[ital p][pi][ital C] [sup 1][Pi][sub [ital u]][sup +] states belonging to the same Rydberg channel. The Coriolis coupling leading to the dissociation has been accounted for by a rovibrational frame transformation. The predissociation line positions and widths for the [ital v]=3 to [ital v]=11 levels have been calculated. Very good agreement between experiment and theory is obtained.
