Materials of construction, design and operating practices, procedures to control quality, and practices to monitor and control corrosion are all important in attaining the optimum reliability and safety of refining equipment. The practices required to minimize the corrosion and fouling of piping, vessels, and heat exchangers are known. This paper recommends procedures for incorporating this information into the design of new units and into the operating practices for existing units. 2 refs.
