Title: Methane production from landfills: an introduction

Abstract

The chemical and microbial factors involved in the decomposition of sanitary landfills are described. The composition of the gas remains relatively constant through the period of peak generation. Methods of gas recovery systems are listed. Currently there are 8 landfill gas recovery systems operating in the US. (DMC)
