South Carolina applications for industrial waste-heat recovery using heat pumps and Rankine-cycle power-generation systems

Applications for Rankine cycle power generation systems and heat pumps were examined for six South Carolina industries: textile finishing, pulp and paper, noncellulosic fibers, pressed and blown glass, hydraulic cement, and secondary nonferrous metals. Thermodynamic and economic calculations determined system outputs and after-tax rates of return. The number of applications and net system outputs for the United States and for South Carolina were estimated.
