An SU(2)[sub [ital L]][direct product]SU(2)[sub [ital R]][direct product]U(1)[sub [ital B][minus][ital L]] effective Hamiltonian is considered to estimate the masses of the [ital t] quark and [ital W][sub [ital R]] boson. Taking SU(6)-symmetric ([ital K][sup 0],[ital [bar K]][sup 0]) and ([ital B][sub [ital d]][sup 0],[ital [bar B]][sub [ital d]][sup 0]) mesonic states in a field-theoretic quark model, we evaluate the hadronic matrix elements with the help of [ital W][sub [ital L]-][ital W[ital R]] box diagrams and obtain the [ital K][sup 0-][ital [bar K]0] and [ital B][sub [ital d]][sup 0-][ital [bar B]][sub [ital d]][sup 0] mass differences. With experimental values of [Delta][ital M][sub [ital B][ital d]] and [Delta][ital M][sub [ital K]] as input we estimate [ital m][sub [ital t]]=162[sub [minus]22][sup +21] GeV and [ital M][sub [ital R]][ge]1650 GeV, respectively. These results are consistent with most of the present theoretical predictions as well as experimental bounds on [ital m][sub [ital t]]. So far as the mass of the [ital W][sub [ital R]] boson is concerned, it is in agreement with the prediction by Beall [ital et] [ital al]. Further, the present investigation also leads to an appreciable charge radius for the [ital B][sub [ital d]][sup 0] meson which we expect to be verified in the near future.
