Formates of hexavalent uranium, neptunium, and plutonium

A spectrophotometric method was used to study the complex formation of hexavalent uranium, neptunium, and plutonium with formate ions in solution. The stability constants of complexes with the composition AnO/sub 2/OOCH/sup +/ were calculated. Formates of hexavalent neptunium and plutonium with the composition of AnO/sub 2/(OOCH/sub 2/.H/sub 2/O were obtained in solid form. It was shown by an x-ray crystallographic method that these compounds are isostructural to the corresponding uranium (VI) formate. The parameters of the unit cell were determined. Data are cited on the IR spectroscopy of the isolated compounds. The thermal behavior of neptunium(VI) and plutonium(VI) formates were studied.
