The /sup A/X/sub ..lambda../..-->../sup A/-1X+p+..pi../sup -/ decays of the hypernuclei /sup 4/He/sub ..lambda../ and /sup 3/H/sub ..lambda../ are examined and the polarization of the particles produced is studied. For the decay of /sup 4/He/sub ..lambda../ a realistic model for inclusion of the p--/sup 3/He interaction is developed; the model makes use of the p/sup 3/He scattering phase shifts calculated taking into account the noncentral forces. It is shown that the strong interaction in the p-/sup 3/He system largely determines the polarization of the protons and /sup 3/He nuclei in /sup 4/He/sub ..lambda../..-->../sup 3/He+p+..pi../sup -/ decays. Existence of a specific mechanism of polarization of recoil nuclei with nonzero spins in hypernucleus decays is pointed out. Polarization effects in leptonic decays of /sup 3/H/sub ..lambda../ are also discussed briefly.
