Radiation exposure to the female breast during an upper gastrointestinal tract examination

Thermoluminescence radiation dosimeters were used to measure the radiation exposure to the breast from an upper gastrointestinal tract series in 17 women. In each case the right breast received greater exposure than the left. The midline breast exposure is frequently greater than that received during film-screen mammography.
