Determination of parts-per-billion levels of hydrogen sulfide in air by potentiometric titration with a sulfide ion-selective electrode as an idicator
Abstract
The Texas Air Control Board describes a method that determines ppb (parts-per-billion) levels of H/sub 2/S in air by trapping out the H/sub 2/S in an aqueous NaOH/ascorbic acid absorber and titrating the resulting sulfide ion with a standard CdSO/sub 4/ solution, using a sulfide-ion-selective electrode as an indicator. The method produces linear and accurate results for 50-1000 ppb H/sub 2/S in air; the precision is excellent and no interference occurs from HO/sub 2/, SO/sub 2/, or O/sub 3/.
