Title: Dynamical aspects of the picosecond x-ray generation from laser-produced plasmas

Abstract

Systematic studies of the picosecond x-ray generation from picosecond laser produced plasmas are performed both experimentally and theoretically. Transient characteristics of continum x-rays are analyzed computationally by the aid of the newly extended transient collisional radiative model applied to multiply-ionized high density ions. Dynamical aspects of x-ray line emission are studied with special interests on dynamical atomic processes which are found out to play important roles. Advanced understanding is obtained in the physics underlying the ultrafast x-ray generation from laser-produced plasmas.
