Isotope effects obtained are tabulated together with substituent constants of X and Y. Rate constants and carbon 14 isotope effects in the Menschutkin-type reaction of benzyl benzenesulfonates and N,N-dimethyl anilines are tabulated. The kinetic isotope effect provide clear-cut evidence concerning the variation of the transition-state structure with substituent. 1 figure, 1 table.
