Title: Application of distributed digital control to prevent transient-induced trips in power plants

This paper describes a methodology by which transient-induced trips in power plants can be reduced through the application of modern analysis and control techniques. An application of Distributed Digital Control is presented to replace an existing analog control systems. Communication and diagnostic functions make it possible to improve power plant reliability and availability, and also provide the benefits of integrated control of complete systems using estimating techniques and adaptive control.
