T-odd asymmetry in the decays of heavy particles
The possibility of studying T-odd correlations of the type A = epsilon-c/sup i/jkn/sup i/n/sub +//sup j/n/sup k//sub -/nxQ in e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilation is considered. Here n defines the beam direction, n/sup +/, n/sup -/ are unit vectors along the directions of the momenta of two detected particles with opposite charges, and Q is a superposition of the momenta of the final particles. These correlations arise from the electromagnetic production and subsequent CP-violating weak decay of the tau lepton or charmed particles. The CP violation model used in the calculations is similar to that of Weinberg (S. Weinberg, Phys. Rev. Lett. 37, 657 (1976)). In our case the effect for the semileptonic decay of the D meson (D..-->..K*..mu nu -->..K..pi mu nu..) is approx.(1/..sqrt..2)(m/sub ..mu..//2 GeV)/sup 2/approx.2 x 10/sup -3/, and for the Cabibbo-suppressed tau-lepton decay (tau..-->..K*..pi nu -->..K..pi pi nu..) the effect equals approx.(1/..sqrt..2)(m/sub K//2 GeV)/sup 2/approx.5 x 10/sup -2/.
