Title: Thermal and radiation-induced thermal oxidation of nitric oxide in N/sub 2/-O/sub 2/-H/sub 2/O-NO/sub x/ mixtures at 25-280/sup 0/C

Abstract

The thermal and radiation-induced thermal oxidation of NO in N/sub 2/-O/sub 2/-H/sub 2/O-NO/sub x/ mixtures has been investigated in the 25-280/sup 0/C temperature range with doses ranging from 5 to 200 kGy. The temperature dependences of the rate constant of the trimolecular reaction NO + NO + O/sub 2/ ..-->.. 2NO/sub 2/ with an activation energy E = -7.5 +/- 0.8 kJ/mole has been obtained. It has been shown that the dependence of G(-NO) and G(NO/sub 2/) on the temperature has an extremum. The values of G(-NO) and G(NO/sub 2/) at 100/sup 0/C are equal to 5.5 +/- 0.5 and 5.0 +/- .05 molecules per 100 eV, respectively.
