REEPS: simulating residential response
Most of the 15 utilities now using or testing the Residential End-Use Energy Planning System (REEPS) model for forecasting load and evaluating demand-side planning programs are finding that it takes an investment of only two or three man-months to assemble the necessary data and get the model running. The REEPS model integrates the traditional inventory approach of end-use models with the behavioral aspects of econometric models to forecast residential energy consumption. Input variables include housing and household demographics, energy prices, and presumed policies and conservation programs. The utility can play out various ''what if'' scenarios to help evaluate the cost-effectiveness of existing or proposed demand-side planning programs. 1 figure, 2 tables.
