Title: Theory of multiphoton ionization

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6207918

A consistent, quantum-mechanical, many-body theory of multiphoton excitation and ionization is reviewed. The laser pulse is considered to be a classical field consisting of many optical cycles of a single, slowly varying frequency. The results are useful both for numerical calculations and for qualitative interpretation of experiments.
