Title: Framework and metering system controls flow rates

This article is an evaluation of a bulk bag framework dry materials metering system which controls flow rates of emptying containers. The device is extremely cost-effective and it eliminates product waste and requires only ine person to operate it. The device combines a flexible wall hopper and feed auger with a unique flexing agitator system that distorts and agitates the bottom of the suspended bag to encourage flow from the outlet. This action is particularly important for reliable discharge of cohesive or poor flowing powders. The framework is capable of housing a variety of feeders, as well as all semi-bulk sacks holding up to 3300-lb of material. It is constructed of steel tubing, primed and coated with urethane paint. Standard features include extendable legs to adjust the discharge height, holddown flanges on the legs for secure mounting, and adjustable fork height to accommodate different size bags. Changeable cross members allow material to be fed in either direction. Framework comes with a selection of accessories such as slurry attachments, batch timers, and various control modules. Feeders are constructed from materials that exhibit outstanding durability. This ensures long service life and minimal maintenance. Using an externally flexed vinyl hopper, the feeders gently distort the material received from the bags and produce a continuous and accurate flow of material from the feeder to the point of application. Various sizes are available to suit specific operations.
