Title: Thermodynamics of type II superconductors near H/sub c/2 (T) and scaling law

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., Sect. B. Condens. Matter; (United States)

Thouless' theory on the critical behavior of type II superconductors is extended for all temperatures. It is shown that, except for the dirty superconductors, where the scaling field ..delta..H/sub s/ = (..delta..H/sub s/)/sub GL/, the scaling field requires an additional temperature dependent coefficient lambda (i.e., ..delta..H/sub s/ = lambda (..delta..H/sub s/)/sub GL/). Here (..delta..H/sub s/)/sub GL/ is the generalized version of the Ginzburg-Landau expression introduced by Thouless. The parameter lambda is calculated for clean type II superconductors and for high-field type II superconductors with strong Pauli paramagnetism.
