Title: Mathematical model for prediction of copy number and protein production in E. coli

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6177729

The design of bioreactors for genetically modified bacterial cultures would benefit from predictive models. Of particular importance is the interaction of the abiotic environment, cell physiology, and control of plasmid copy number. The authors already have an excellent base model for Escherichia coli, the organism most extensively used in genetic manipulation. We have also recently developed a molecular mechanism model for control of replication of ColE1 type plasmids. The inclusion of the plasmid model into the E. coli cell-model allows the explicit predictions of the interaction of cell physiology and plasmid encoded functions.
